Mitchell Dancik Sr.
Mitchell Dancik Sr., 90, of Butler passed away Monday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.
He was born on Dec. 29, 1923, in Etna. He was a son of the late Michael and Jennie Kacperski Dancik.
He was employed by the Pullman Standard Car Co. as a welder for 33 years until its closing in 1981.
He was a member of the St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora. He was also a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 778 and the VFW Post 249, and a member of the DAV Chapter 64.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II, where he received two Purple Hearts and the Combat Infantryman's Badge.
Surviving is his wife, Jane L. Sanderson Dancik, who he married on Dec. 29, 1962. They enjoyed spending winters in Florida for many years. Also surviving are his son, Mitchell (LeeAnn) Dancik Jr. of Chicora, and his three grandchildren, Jamie Brewer, Lorissa Dancik and Joshua Dancik, all of Chicora.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Dancik.
Dancik — The friends of Mitchell Dancik Sr., who passed away Monday, Dec. 8, 2014, will be received from 10 a.m. to services at 11 a.m. Thursday at the St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, 105 Kohler Ave., Lyndora, with the Rev. Leo Schlosser, pastor, officiating.
