EASTON — Want a six-pack delivered with your pizza?

Thanks to a recent ruling by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, businesses with retail liquor licenses can legally bring suds to the front door as long as they also obtain what's known as a transporter-for-hire license.

The Express-Times of Easton reports that 19 license holders statewide have so far requested permission to begin home delivery of beer, including four restaurants in the Lehigh Valley region that includes Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton.

Mike Gilbert is bar manager at the 50 Yard Line Sports Bar at Pizza Como in Bethlehem. He says customers have been asking for delivery for years.

The rule limits delivery to a maximum of a 12-pack of 16-ounce beers. Wine and liquor are ineligible for delivery.

HARRISBURG — A veteran Pennsylvania Senate aide who played a leading role in rewriting the Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Law was named Friday to take over as head of the state Office of Open Records.Gov. Tom Corbett announced the agency’s next executive director is Erik Arneson, succeeding Terry Mutchler. Mutchler said she was leaving to run a “transparency practice” at the Philadelphia-based law firm Pepper Hamilton.Arneson has been communications and policy director for Sen. Dominic Pileggi, R-Delaware, since 2005, a job that included serving as spokesman for the Republican caucus.
