HARRISBURG — State Rep. Daryl Metcalfe will retain his seat as chairman of the House State Government committee when the new legislative session starts today.

Metcalfe, R-12th, recently won reelection in November to a seat he's held since 1999.

Metcalfe, who was appointed to the seat by Speaker of the House-designate Mike Turzai, a Republican from Allegheny County, held the same chairmanship during the last legislative session.

The State Government Committee introduces and debates legislation before it gets to the General Assembly. Any bill that makes its way to the General Assembly must first pass through the committee.

HARRISBURG — Gov.-elect Tom Wolf nominated the first two members of his prospective Cabinet on Monday.Wolf tapped Eileen McNulty as the secretary of revenue — the state’s chief tax collector — and Dennis Davin as secretary of community and economic development.
