Cynthia Sue 'Cindy' Thomas Haunty

Cynthia Sue “Cindy” Thomas Haunty, 63, of Butler passed away at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday at VA Butler Healthcare.

She was born on Dec. 24, 1950, in Ashland, Ohio, to the late John L. Thomas and Shirley J. Swinehart Thomas.

Cindy was a graduate of Butler High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving as a Hospital Corps Wave at the Great Lakes Naval Station during the Vietnam War.

She worked at the Butler Hot Dog Shop for many years and most recently worked as a custodian for the Butler School District.

Cindy enjoyed reading, online gaming, walking, and spending time with her family and her grandchildren.

Cindy is survived by her two daughters, Lisa A. Sager Zimmerman of Butler and Megan L. (Mike Kay) Haunty of Saxonburg; four grandchildren, Danna Zimmerman, Jessica Zimmerman, Lennon Haunty, and Kaidyn Kay; her brother, John L. Thomas and his wife, Ann, of Evergreen, Colo.; her three sisters, Nikki Sherwin and her husband, Pete, of Lakeland, Fla., Cathy Ballinger and her husband, Craig, of Houston, Texas, and Lisa Thomas of Silver Spring, Md.; a number of nieces and nephews, and a few great-nieces and nephews.

Haunty— In accordance with Cindy's wishes, there will be no public visitation for Cynthia Sue “Cindy” Thomas Haunty, who passed away Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014.A celebration of Cindy's life will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Trinity Presbyterian Church, 107 Staley Ave., Butler.Arrangements are by the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Butler.In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, Butler Chapter, P.O.
