Husband charged in fire that killed wife
DUQUESNE — A man has been charged with homicide and arson after police say he admitted setting a fire that killed his estranged wife.
Police say James Karr, 46, told them he knocked Maureen Karr, 56, unconscious, tied her up, poured vodka on her and lit it around 1 a.m. Tuesday in Duquesne.
Maureen Karr filed court documents Dec. 15 claiming her husband had threatened to burn down her home. A hearing on the protection-from-abuse order she requested had been scheduled for Monday but was postponed until Jan. 7 when James Karr had a seizure while in court.
