Ruth S. Konar

Ruth S. Konar, 74, formerly of Butler, died Wednesday at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born Oct. 30, 1940, in Cranesville, she was a daughter of the late William H. Merritt and Ruth S. (Leonard) Merritt.

She had worked as an underwriter for the Nationwide Insurance Company in Butler, retiring after 37 years. She was a member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Lyndora, had enjoyed reading, bowling, camping, riding snowmobiles and working crossword puzzles.

Surviving is her brother, William (Helen) Merritt of Dover, Pa.; two sisters, Lois Hebert of New Castle and Janet Guterry of Parker; 11 nieces and nephews; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; numerous great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Lydia Kersten and Carrol Riddle, both of Lyndora.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund B. Konar, who she married Oct. 20, 1962, and who died June 16, 1996.

KONAR — Friends of Ruth S. Konar, who died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Butler.
