Computer considered as cause of house fire

JACKSON TWP — Firefighters extinguished a fire in the bedroom of a home this morning that may have been started by a computer.

The Harmony Fire Department responded to 110 Nickle Road shortly after 10 a.m. and had the fire contained within about 10 minutes, said chief Neal Nanna.

There were no injuries although two cats were unaccounted for when the firefighters turned the house back over to the homeowners around 11 a.m.

Nanna said the state fire marshal would visit the scene later in the day, but the fire appeared to be accidental and may have been caused by a computer on the bed that short circuited, he said.

A bystander kept the fire under control with fire extinguishers until firefighters arrived, which kept it from spreading to the rest of the house, Nanna said.
