Neil R. Hemphill
Neil R. Hemphill, 76, of Butler passed away Saturday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born on March 12, 1938, in Butler to the late Hugh Hemphill and Margaret “Peg” Dutter Hemphill.
Neil was a 1956 graduate of Butler High School.
He worked as a security guard at Butler Armco, retiring in 2001.
Neil had been a medic in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of St. John's Reformed Church and the Butler City Hunting and Fishing Club. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Neil is survived by his two sons, Mark Hemphill of Sharon and Ken Hemphill and his wife, Leah, of Butler; his stepson, Chris Warner and his wife, Cindy, of Butler; his three grandchildren, Dustin Hemphill and his wife, Amanda, Shannon Hemphill and Lauren Hemphill; his stepgrandchild, Conner Warner, and his sister, Norene Stephenson of Butler.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Ann Myers Hemphill; his second wife, Judy E. Engel Hemphill, and his grandson, Joshua Hemphill.
Hemphill— The friends of Neil R. Hemphill, who passed away Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Reformed Church, 493 Evans City Road, Butler, with the Rev. Jim Smith officiating.
