Rita G. Holland Grubbs, 83, of Lakeland, Tenn., formerly of Richland Township, passed away Sunday with her family by her side.

Born on Sept. 14, 1931, in Hampton Township, she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret Donnelly Holland. Her sister, Peggy, gratefully remembers Rita lovingly helping to raise and care for her siblings.

Rita was the beloved wife for 63 years of the late Walter “Skip” Grubbs, who passed away on May 24, 2013.

Rita had been a member of the Hampton Presbyterian Church and the Richland Township V.F.D. Women's Auxiliary and was an active member of the Advent Presbyterian Church in Cordova, Tenn. She enjoyed being part of the Millington Quilt Guild and the New Salem Cumberland Presbyterian Quilting Group.

She is survived by her son, Walter “Chip” H. (Janice) Grubbs Jr. of Butler; her son, Mark (Terri) Grubbs of Brookfield, Mass.; her daughter, Pam (Reuben “Ben”) Knox of Lakeland, Tenn.; her grandchildren, Amy Jo (Jeff) Jenkins, Matthew (Julie) Grubbs, Mark (Randi) Grubbs Jr., Scott (Alicia) Grubbs, Abby (Kellen) Hills and Rachel (Jeff) Roberts; her great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Zachary Grubbs and Ainsley and Kaine Hills; and her sisters, Peggy (Don) Kopelic and Erma Kulkowski.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Cathy Grubbs, and her siblings, John, Mary Jane and Jean.

Grubbs— Rita's family will welcome friends of Rita G. Holland Grubbs, who passed away Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at theKing Funeral Home, 2841 Woodland Circle, Allison Park.A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Hampton Presbyterian Church, 2941 E. Hardies Road, Gibsonia, with the Rev. Ted Martin officiating. Rita will be laid to rest in Mount Royal Cemetery, Glenshaw.A memorial service will be at the Advent Presbyterian Church in Cordova, Tenn., on Nov. 22.The family suggests memorial donations in honor of Rita in support of the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1101 Western Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15233 or at www.humanesociety.org.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with Rita's family at www.kingfuneralhome.com.
