Man killed after hit by 3 cars

PITTSBURGH — State police are looking for three drivers who didn’t stop after striking a man who was killed while walking on Interstate 376 in Pittsburgh.

Police say the 45-year-old victim was walking in the eastbound lanes near the Boulevard of the Allies exit when he was hit by a blue vehicle and thrown into the westbound lanes, where two more vehicles struck him about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The Allegheny County medical examiner’s office wasn’t releasing the man’s name early today because they’ve yet to contact his relatives.

Police believe the man died from the initial impact, and say the first vehicle likely has significant front-end damage.

Although the highway — known locally as the Parkway East — is in the city, it is patrolled by state troopers from the Findlay barracks.
