Leona Lutz

Leona Rape Lutz, 85, of Zelienople passed away Saturday at the Good Samaritan Hospice House in Wexford.

Born on March 27, 1929, in Harmony, she was the daughter of the late Loniel and Mary Lucille Bohlman Rape.

Leona was a longtime member of the St. Peter’s Reformed Church in Zelienople and was a 1947 graduate of the Evans City High School.

She was a volunteer at the blood bank for many years and during her free time she loved quilting. Leona will be most remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, her love of dancing and her strength of character as she was still milking cows at the age of 83.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her seven children, Karen Wissler, Ronald Lutz and his wife, Kelly, Kevin Lutz and his wife, Gwen, Sandra Kriebel and her husband, Ken, Kenneth Lutz and his wife, Brenda, John Lutz and his wife, Donna, and Bryce Lutz; her brother, Harvey “Ed” Rapp; her two sisters, Patricia Ripper and Charlotte Rice and her husband, Regis; her 18 grandchildren; and her nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Edward H. Lutz, who she married on Feb. 20, 1949, and who passed away on Nov. 25, 2001, and her brother, Loniel “Dean” Rapé.

Lutz — Leona's family will welcome friends of Leona Rape Lutz, who passed away Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at theBoylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A funeral ceremony will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Reid Moon officiating. Leona will be laid to rest at the Zelienople Community Mausoleum.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor in support of the Good Samaritan Hospice House, 146 Neely School Road, Wexford, PA 15090; St. Peter's Reformed Church, 314-320 E.
