Two workers injured at Freeport school site
BUFFALO TWP — Two construction workers were transported by ambulance from the new Freeport Middle School site Monday afternoon.
Todd O’Shell, district spokesman, said the people were employees of the project’s general construction company Massaro Construction of Pittsburgh.
Although the incident appeared to involve scaffolding, details about what happened and the workers’ injuries were not immediately available.
Freeport School District began building the $30 million middle school building in July. It is adjacent to the high school.
The 115,000-square-foot building is scheduled to open next year. It will serve sixth, seventh and eighth graders. Currently, sixth graders are in the elementary schools, and a junior high school in Freeport has seventh and eighth graders.
The junior high in Freeport will close when the new middle school opens.
