Isabel Irene Moore Lang West

Isabel Irene Moore Lang West, 86, of Shenango Township, formerly of Plain Grove Township, passed away Thursday at The Haven in New Castle following an extended illness.

She was born on June 9, 1928, in Darlington to the late Lloyd M. Moore and Lilly Pearl Stuart Moore.

She married William S. Lang, with whom she had seven cherished children. She later married Arthur David West, who preceded her in death in 1989.

She was self-employed and faithfully attended the Faith Country Chapel E.M.C. in New Castle.

She was full of life and cherished every moment she was given. Being a cancer survivor of more than 25 years, she knew the reality that each day is a gift, and she strived to live life to the fullest. She hosted a celebration party in 2011 for her friends and family, celebrating 25 years of being a cancer survivor.

She loved music and dancing and treasured her entire family. Her generosity and love will always be remembered.

She is survived by her three daughters, Connie Rhodes, Debbie Withrow and her husband, Glenn, and Roxanne Wilcox and her husband, Huck, all of New Castle; her two sons, Jim Lang and his wife, Jody, of New Castle and Larry Lang and his wife, Carrie, of Harrisville; her stepdaughter, Nancy West Rodgers of Volant; her 14 grandchildren; her 23 great-grandchildren; and her three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husbands, she was preceded in death by her two infant children, Darwin Meade Lang and Cindy Lou Lang; her stepdaughter, Judith West Dekking; her sister, Betty Hohman; and her brother, Wayne Moore.

West— The family of Isabel Irene Moore Lang West, who passed away Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014, will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday and from 2 p.m. until time of service at 3 p.m. Sunday at theSmith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St. Slippery Rock, with the Rev. Aaron Withrow, grandson of Isabel, the Rev. Steve Miller and the Rev. Russ VanNest presiding. Interment will be in South Plain Grove Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society and Children's Hospital of UPMC.
