Dwight Jerry Claypoole

Dwight Jerry Claypoole, 67, of Worthington passed away Tuesday at his home with his wife, children and sister at his side.

He was born on May 12, 1947, in Kittanning to the late Randall Henry and Dorothy Annamae Claypoole.

He was a lifetime resident of West Franklin Township.

Dwight was a retired land and gas agent for the Shawmut Development Co. and TW Phillips. He was also a lifelong farmer and a steward of the land.

He was a member of the Franklin Union Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge 805 F&AM and the Syria Temple Shrine.

He was active in politics in the Republican Party, served 20 years on the Worthington/West Franklin Joint Municipal Authority where he was chairman, and he also was an Armstrong County Sewage Authority board member. He served on the Worthington Boro Council for 18 years, including being a past president.

Dwight is survived by his wife, Charlene Thompson Claypoole; his two sons, Grant (Tracy) Claypoole of Worthington and Gregg (Cortney) Claypoole of Worthington; his daughter, Gail Claypoole of Butler; his sister, Charlene (Rich) Claypoole Perine of Worthington; and his six grandchildren, Lauren and Marshall, and Garrett, Natalie, Braden and Charleigh.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Claypoole — The friends of Dwight Jerry Claypoole, who passed away Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the F. Duane Snyder Funeral Home, 119 Bear St., Worthington. A Masonic service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.Additional visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Franklin Union Baptist Church in Worthington, with the Pastor Scott Jones officiating.
