Ronald D. Emery

Ronald D. Emery, 86, of Chicora went to be with the Lord late Sunday evening at VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler.

Ronald was born Sept. 23, 1928, in Petrolia. He was the son of the late Raymond R. and Emma Irene Sheakley Emery.

He had been a member of Community Alliance Church in Butler and was currently a member of Chicora Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.

Ron enjoyed family gatherings and gospel music and was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan.

He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and participated in the Allied Occupation of Japan at the end of World War II. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Chicora American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Chicora.

He was a member of the Loyal Order of Odd Fellows in Butler.

He retired in 1992 from Witco Chemical Corp. in Petrolia where he had been a laboratory technician.

Ron is survived by his wife, Nancy G. Tomasello Emery, who he married at Community Alliance Church in Butler June 16, 1984. He is also survived by his daughter, Beverly E. Serafine and her husband, Victor, of Karns City; his son, Rodney C. “Tucker” Emery of Ford Cliff; his stepson, Douglas W. Tomasello of Butler; his two brothers, Dennis Emery of Bruin and the Rev. Dr. Larry Emery and his wife, Diane, of Ashtabula, Ohio; his five grandchildren, Angela M. Pakutz and her husband, Micheal, of Petrolia, Michael D. Serafine and his wife, Debbie, of Chicora, Daniel M. Serafine and his wife, Lauren, of East Brady, Cari Sychak and her husband, James, of Butler, and Becki Heckman and her husband, Bob, of Cadogan; his 11 great-grandchildren, Janelle, Jesse, Jordan, Jaimi, Gage, Chase, Ethan, Emily, Siena, Jules and Andrew; his three great-great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Reagan and Gavin; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his brother, Wallace “Bud” Emery, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Mildred Tomasello.

Emery— Friends of Ronald D. Emery, who passed away Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora, and from 10 a.m. to time of services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Chicora Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 310 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora, with the Rev. Mark Wallace, church pastor, officiating.
