Badgers beat Oklahoma

PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas — Tournament MVP Frank Kaminsky scored 17 points to lead five Wisconsin players in double figures, Duje Dukan and Traevon Jackson each added 13 and the second-ranked Badgers beat Oklahoma 69-56 on Friday to win the Battle 4 Atlantis championship.

Sam Dekker scored 11 points and Nigel Hayes finished with 10 for Wisconsin (7-0), which trailed by one late in the first half before peeling off 10 straight points and taking the lead for good.

Kaminsky had eight rebounds and Jackson finished with eight assists for the Badgers.

Dinjiyl Walker scored 10 points for Oklahoma (4-2), which got nine-point efforts from Isaiah Cousins and native Bahamian Buddy Hield. But Cousins and Hield combined to shoot 5 for 22 for those 18 points.

No. 5 North Carolina 75, No. 18 Florida 64

PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas — Kennedy Meeks scored 18 points and tied a career high with 13 rebounds, Marcus Paige added 16 points and North Carolina built a big early lead and beat Florida in the fifth-place game at the Battle 4 Atlantis.

Justin Jackson had 12 points for the Tar Heels (5-1), who scored the first 12 points. J.P. Tokoto and Brice Johnson added 10 apiece for North Carolina.

Kasey Hill led all scorers with 20 points and Michael Frazier II added 17 for the Gators (3-3), who struggled again offensively. Florida shot 33 percent from the field, 22 percent from 3-point range and still hasn’t reached the 70-point mark in any game this season. The third loss matches the Gators’ total for all of last season, when they went 36-3 and made the Final Four.

No. 10 Gonzaga 73, St. John’s 66

NEW YORK — Domantas Sabonis had 14 points and eight rebounds to help Gonzaga beat St. John’s in the NIT Season Tip-Off championship game.

Gary Bell Jr. added 13 points and seven rebounds for the Bulldogs (6-0). Phil Greene IV led St. John’s (4-1) with 20 points. Rysheed Jordan had 18 points and D’Angelo Harrison added 15.

No. 11 Kansas 82, Tennessee 67

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — Perry Ellis scored 24 points, Cliff Alexander added 16 and Kansas beat Tennessee in an Orlando Classic semifinal.

Frank Mason III had 11 points and seven assists for Kansas (4-1). The Jayhawks will face No. 20 Michigan State in the championship game Sunday.

Josh Richardson led Tennessee (2-2) with 16 points, and Kevin Punter had 14.

No. 20 Michigan State 79, Marquette 68

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — Denzel Valentine had a career-high 25 points and Michigan State beat Marquette in the Orlando Classic semifinals.

Travis Trice added 19 points for Michigan State (5-1).

Duane Wilson led Marquette (3-3) with 15 points. The Golden Eagles could get no closer than six points over the game’s final three minutes.

Marquette’s Matt Carlino, coming off a tournament record 38 points in Thursday’s 72-70 victory over Georgia Tech, had 14 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
