Sharon Koegler Kovac

Sharon Koegler Kovac, 63, of Mars, formerly of Cranberry Township, passed away unexpectedly Friday morning at UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Township.

Born on March 30, 1951, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late John and Ina Nolder Koegler.

Sharon enjoyed camping and fishing, metal detecting, sewing and crafting, but spending time with her family, especially her grandkids, was what she loved the most.

“My sweet princess, your love was the strength of my life. You will live in my heart forever,” Luv Wayne.

She was the beloved wife of J. Wayne Kovac, who she married on May 1, 1971; loving mother of Brenda Wittman and her husband, Scott, of Cranberry Township, Crystal Horan and her husband, Edward, of Zelienople and Brian Kovac and his wife, Jennifer, of Cranberry Township; loving Grammy of Tyler, Alex, Darian, Ethan, Nathan and Kendall; and sister of Luvia Melnyk and her husband, Raymond, and Deborah Mentel and her husband, Harry, both of Warrendale. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles L. Koegler.

Kovac — The friends of Sharon Koegler Kovac, who passed away Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with her sister, the Rev. Deborah Mentel, officiating. Burial will be in Mars Cemetery, Adams Township.Following the committal service, friends are invited to a wake at the Kovac home from noon to 5 p.m.Memorials may be given to the family, who are establishing a scholarship fund in Sharon's memory.Directions and condolences are available at www.mcdonald-aeberli.com.
