Mildred Beneigh

Mildred Beneigh, 92, of Chicora, formerly of East Butler, passed away at 12:20 p.m. Friday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

She was born Oct. 26, 1921, in Butler to the late Fred Greenert and Ellen Sarah (Minteer) Beneigh.

Mildred was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was a house mother at Nixon Hall and also worked in the medical records room at Butler County Memorial Hospital. Mildred then worked as a receptionist for Dr. Zucker's ophthalmologist office in Butler, where she retired from. She was a volunteer at Butler Memorial Hospital. Mildred also enjoyed gardening and sewing.

Mrs. Beneigh is survived by two daughters, Ellen P. McElhaney of Chicora and Debra A. Sonntag and her husband, John, of Grove City; three grandchildren, Tracy Patton and her husband, Will, Megan Lineman and her husband, Brian, and Amy Ligas and her husband, Jason; eight great-grandchildren, Courtney, Colton, Justin, Chloe, Marra, Sarah, Reed and Avery.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul J. Beneigh, who she married on Aug. 21, 1943, and who passed away on Aug. 26, 1992; two sisters, Edna Miller Carson and Pearl Fritch; and her son-in-law, Thomas McElhaney.

BENEIGH — Friends of Mildred Beneigh, who died Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler, from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be held immediately following at 5 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Alden Towberman of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will take place in the Rose Hill Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to VNA Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Dr., Butler, PA 16001.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
