Carolyn Jean Brown
Carolyn Jean Brown, 71, of Ridgeville died at 6:03 p.m. Thursday at Butler Memorial Hospital after a nine-week battle with cancer.
Carolyn was born to the late Lloyd Brown and the late Irma Hassler Brown on Nov. 10, 1942. She was a 1960 graduate of Moniteau High School.
After graduation, she worked for the T.W. Phillips Gas and Oil Co. for nine years, and she retired from the Office of Personnel Management in Boyers after 37 and one half years of service.
During her early and teen years, Carolyn attended the Ridgeville United Methodist Church and participated in various church and Sunday school activities. She lived by the Golden Rule and was always willing to help others in an unassuming manner.
Carolyn had a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh. She was friendly and enjoyed being with people. She was a good listener and a reliable confidant.
Pets were very special to Carolyn, and a duck, a turtle and various cats and dogs completed the collection.
Carolyn loved gardening and she was always busy tending the various plants and flowers which bloomed and surrounded the house from spring through the fall.
Since she loved to eat, Carolyn was an excellent cook and baker and her special recipes were enjoyed by family and friends at holidays and special events. She loved decorating and preparing for the holidays, and she was an avid shopper who always chose the “perfect” gift. Her other interests include sewing, crocheting, painting, making ceramics and traveling.
Carolyn was a dedicated daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Surviving are her sister, Shirley M. Brown of Butler; her brother Daryl E. (Sandi) Brown of Eau Claire; and her nephew, Dustin V. Brown of Eau Claire.
BROWN — Friends of Carolyn Jean Brown, who died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014, will be received at the William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main St., West Sunbury, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, with the Rev. Floyd H. Barnhart of the Ridgeville United Methodist Church officiating.
