Gas station plan gets submitted
JACKSON TWP — A Speedway gas station and convenience store is proposed for Route 19.
It would be built on the northwest corner of the intersection of Route 19 and Lindsay Road, according to plans submitted.
A conditional use permit will be up for a vote by the township supervisors at their Nov. 20 meeting following a public hearing.
The station would have 20 gas pumps and a 4,000 square-foot store on 2.91 acres that Speedway has bought from the Buncher Co., which is developing the surrounding land as Jackson’s Pointe.
The application did not indicate when construction would begin, though it lists the estimated project cost at $2 million.
Brian Goetz, Buncher executive director, said the intersection of Lindsay Road and Route 19 will be expanded to become a four-way intersection in 2015 marking the beginning of Phase II of the development.
The extension of Lindsay Road has already been partially constructed by Buncher, though it is not yet open to traffic.
Speedway, headquartered in Enon, Ohio, is a subsidiary of Marathon Petroleum.
Stephanie Griffith, Marathon spokesman, said the company could not comment on the project, since it was early in the process.
There are 2,740 Speedway stores in 23 states, but none in Butler County.
