Raymond D. Schar
Raymond D. Schar, 91, of Beltsville, Md., formerly of Evans City, passed away Thursday in Holy Cross Hospital, Silver Spring, Md.
Born on April 9, 1923, in Butler County, he was the son of the late William H. and Pearl Walker Schar.
Ray was a member of the Lutheran Church of Abiding Presence, Beltsville, Md.
He retired in 1984 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture in poultry research. Ray was a member of the Poultry Science Association and the World's Poultry Science Association.
Ray proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during World War II with the rank of first lieutenant.
He was a life member of the VFW and the American Legion.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Cary Schar on May 27, 2004; his son, William B. Schar, and his brother, J. William Schar.
He is survived by his two sons, Raymond D. (Peggy) Schar of Gambrells, Md., and John C. Schar of Greenville, Md.; his six grandchildren, and his ten great-grandchildren.
