Francis G. 'Bud' Marte

Francis G. “Bud” Marte, 87, of Butler passed away at 4 a.m. Monday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler.

He was born on Jan. 2, 1927, in Duquesne to the late Francis G. Marte Sr. and Anne Marie Keene Marte.

Mr. Marte was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II in the European, African and Middle Eastern campaigns.

He worked as a draftsman at Koppers, Inc. in Pittsburgh, where he retired from in 1992.

Mr. Marte was a Protestant.

He enjoyed woodworking, metal working and hunting.

Mr. Marte is survived by his wife, Gloria M. Marte, who he married on Aug. 30, 1958; his daughter, Jodie Stevenson and her husband, Paul, of Murrysville; his brother, Dr. Jay G. Marte of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Adrian C. Marte, John D. Marte and an infant brother, and an infant sister.

Marte — The friends of Francis G. “Bud” Marte, who passed away Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, will be received from 4 p.m. to time of services at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler, with the Pastor Kris Denning of Oak Hills Christian Church officiating. Burial will take place in the Butler County Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the VNA of Western PA, Visiting Nurses Association, 154 Hindman Road, Butler, PA 16001 or to the VNA Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
