Joseph J. Schmeider
Joseph J. Schmeider, 82, of Cabot passed away Friday at Fair Winds Manor, Sarver.
Born on July 7, 1932, in Butler, he was the son of the late Joseph W. and Louise L. Menken Schmeider.
Joseph was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
He worked in the melt shop at Armco Steel.
He was a member of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church.
Joseph was also a Pennsylvania state constable, a Winfield Township supervisor for more than 30 years, a member of the Winfield Township civil defense, a charter member of the Winfield Township fire department, the W.H. Miller Lodge of Butler, the New Castle Consistory, a past-commander at the Saxonburg American Legion 683, and a member of Saxonburg VFW 7376. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and metal detecting.
Surviving are his loving wife, Helen Lasick Schmeider, whom he married on Nov. 19, 1949; his children, Joseph J. (Vikkie) Schmeider Jr. of Cabot, Judy Schmeider of the Netherlands, Joyce (Mark) Sleeper of Lake Wylie, S.C., Jeffrey (Marcy) Schmeider of Cabot, and Jarod (Darla) Schmeider of Aurora, Ohio; his eight grandchildren, and his five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his four brothers and three sisters.

Main St., Saxonburg.A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Mark Pattock, OFM Cap, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Luke Cemetery. There will be a luncheon following the Mass at American Legion 683, 754 N.
