Nature and Wildlife show opens Friday

The work of Butler artist Tom Sheehan will be part of the Nature and Wildlife Show opening Friday at The Art Center, 344 S. Main St.

The annual Nature and Wildlife Show will open Friday at The Art Center.

Once again, this popular Associated Artists of Butler County exhibit will display artists' depictions of the natural world and even a more abstract world. Artwork in six different categories will be featured.

The categories are: painting; drawing; photography and digital art; mixed media and collage; sculpture, fiber art and ceramics; and printmaking.

Cash awards and ribbons will be awarded to artists in the various categories. A minimum of eight separate entries is required in each category for it to be eligible for awards.

An opening reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday will feature the artists and the awards ceremony at The Art Center.

The Harmony Hot Haus Band will provide entertainment, and refreshments will be served. Admission is free.

The Nature and Wildlife Show will run through Nov. 28.

Saturday walk-in art classes continue with an acrylic painting session with Eileen Stroup featuring Van Gogh from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.

The class for adults and mature teens costs $15 at the door.

The class on Nov. 15 will be about mosaics taught by Michele Marchak. The cost for that class will be $20.

The Art Center at 344 S. Main St. is open regularly from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays. Admission is free. Call 724-283-6922 or visit butlerartcenter.org.
