SLIPPERY ROCK — Slip[pery Rock University senior women’s soccer forward Nicole Krueger has been named first team Capital One Academic All-District.
An exercise science major, Krueger has a 4.0 grade point average. She has six goals and 14 points this season.
SRU is 11-3-1 on the year and ranked third in the Atlantic Region.
KELOWNA, British Columbia — Spain's Javier Fernandez won the men's short program Friday at Skate Canada International, and Canada's Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford took the short dance.Fernandez landed a quadruple Salchow to open his program, but doubled his planned triple Axel and finished with 86.36 points, entertaining the crowd with his rock-and-roll routine to Ram Jam's “Black Betty.”Japan's Takahito Mura of Japan was second at 82.57, and Russia's Konstantin Menshov third with 81.70.
The Timberwolves on Friday evening reached agreement with point guard Ricky Rubio on a four-year contract extension that will guarantee him at least $55 million, according to two people with knowledge of the negotiations.The agreement will keep Rubio from becoming a restricted free agent, which would have happened if the two sides did not reach a deal by 11 p.m. Friday night.Rubio also could earn an additional $1 million if he reaches certain incentive clauses.From staff and wire reports
