Garnet R. Martin

Garnet R. Martin, 93, of Butler passed away at 7 p.m. Sunday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

She was born on Feb. 16, 1921, in Butler to the late Paul Martin and Margaret McCaffrey Martin.

Miss Martin was a member of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, Butler, where she was a member of the Christian Mothers.

She was a caregiver and especially loved raising her two nieces, Karen McCall and Sandra Castle, and her nephew, Jerry Martin.

Miss Martin enjoyed playing bingo and the lottery, and she loved going to the casinos.

Miss Martin is survived by a number of nieces, nephews and great-nieces.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her five sisters, Marie Whitaker, Erma Martin, Violet M. Martin, Gladys Ross and Dorothy Martin, and her three brothers, Edwin, Paul and Robert Martin.

Martin— According to her wishes, there will be no public visitation for Garnet R. Martin, who passed away Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014.The St. Paul's Catholic Women and Christian Mothers will meet at 9:40 a.m. Thursday at the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler, to recite the rosary.A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will take place in the Calvary Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Butler County Humane Society, 1015 Evans City Road, Renfrew, PA 16053, or to the donor's favorite charity.Arrangements are by the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Butler.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
