Man tries to rob Saxonburg Pharmacy
SAXONBURG — Borough police are searching for a man who this afternoon tried to rob the Saxonburg Pharmacy at 115 Pittsburgh St.
Police Chief Joseph Beachem said the white man, believed to be in his 20s, approached the female pharmacist about 2:38 p.m. and demanded “opiates ... he used that word.” The man implied that he had a gun, but did not display one, Beachem said.
The pharmacist did not give the man drugs, and within a minute he became agitated and left, Beachem said.
The man was last seen walking east on Main Street.
He is described as being about 5 foot 8 inches tall. He was wearing an olive, hooded jacket and olive baseball cap. Witnesses described him as having his hair “pulled back.” He wore wire-rimmed glasses, gray pants and some type of boots.
Anyone with informations about the suspect should call 911 or the borough police at 724-352-6255.
Beachem said video surveillance was active in the store and investigators hope to release a photograph of the suspect soon.
The Butler County Sheriff’s office and the state police are assisting in the search.
