Police: Drugs were factor in accident

5 people hurt in Route 422 crash

BUTLER TWP — Drugs are believed to be a factor in a weekend wreck on Route 422 that left five people injured, township police said.

The accident in the eastbound lanes just before the Route 8 exit occurred about 7:20 p.m. Friday when a speeding Honda Civic driven by David Perri, 54, of Butler struck a ChryslerPT Cruiser driven by Holly Mohney, 55, of Butler, according to a police report released Tuesday.

The collision forced Mohney’s car into a Dodge Ram pickup truck driven by Leah McCloskey, 23, of Grove City. Perri’s car ended up overturned on the bed of the pickup.

All three drivers and two passengers — Stacy R. Byers, 25, of Butler, riding in Perri’s car, and a 17-year-old Butler girl, riding in Mohney’s car — suffered minor to moderate injuries.

McCloskey was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, where she was treated and released. The others were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital. Mohney and Byers were treated and released, while Perri apparently left the hospital against medical advice.

Police said Perri underwent a blood draw at Butler Memorial for a toxicology examination to determine if he was under the influence of drugs.

Mercer Road and Butler Township Fire District 3 volunteer fire companies responded to the accident.

Meanwhile, Byers was found with suspected marijuana in her belongings. Police on Tuesday charged her with possession of a small amount of marijuana.
