Robert L. 'Bob' Double

Robert L. “Bob” Double, 67, of Jackson Township, formerly of Slippery Rock, passed away at 1:40 a.m. Monday in UPMC Presbyterian after a brief illness.

Born on Sept. 26, 1946, in Butler, he was a son of Helen J. Kalonoski Double and the late Kenneth E. Double.

He was a 1964 graduate of Moniteau High School.

Mr. Double spent many years as a truck driver, and in 1980 he became a weight enforcement officer for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. He retired in 2005.

He was a member of the Sandy Lake Presbyterian Church.

Bob was a U.S. Navy veteran and served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 159 and the VFW Post 6345, both in Mercer.

He loved to golf and was a member of the Tuesday night golf league at the Mercer Public Golf Course.

He enjoyed spending his winters in Florida and especially enjoyed his time with family, especially his grandchildren.

His wife, the former Helen J. “Jeanne” Ridenour, who he married on Feb. 14, 1974, survives at home. Also surviving are his daughter, Lori Craig, her husband, Edward, and their three children, Rachelle, Crystal and Brandon Craig, all of Jackson Center; his mother, Helen J. Byers and her husband, William “Willie,” of West Sunbury; his three sisters, Sandy Kelly and her husband, Kenneth, and Debra Gould, all of Butler, and Linda Bell and her husband, Bob, of Prospect; and his two brothers, Joel Byers of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Tim Byers of West Sunbury.

He was preceded in death by his birth father, Kenneth.

Double— Honoring his wishes, there will be no services for Robert L. “Bob” Double, who passed away Monday, Sept. 8, 2014.Arrangements are by the Scott A. Black Funeral Home, Stoneboro.
