David Wesley Hicks

David Wesley Hicks, 77, of East Brady passed away Sunday at St. John's Specialty Care Center, Mars.

He was born on Oct. 8, 1936, in Kaylor, the son of the late Herbert and Mardie C. Kamerer Hicks.

David honorably served in the U.S. Army, and he belonged to the American Legion Post 488 in East Brady.

For many years, he worked as a painter for Pullman Standard.

David was very interested in reading about the history of wars and watching movies about wars. He was a fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Edna Furl Hicks, who he married on April 1, 1963; his son, Jim Hicks and Sandra Hillard of East Brady; his daughter, Donna Wood and her husband, Kevin, of Chicora; his grandchildren, Breann Wood, Amanda Hicks, John Hicks, Kerissa Hicks, Curtis Hicks and David Hicks; his five great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Hannah, Samuel, Janessa and Brody; his brother, William Hicks and his wife, Cathy, of Karns City; his sister, Ruth Loose and her husband, Don, of Karns City; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sons, Larry “Bud” Hicks, John Hicks and Bobby Hicks; his grandson, Wesley Hicks; and his sister, Velma Buck.

Hicks— Per his wishes, services for David Wesley Hicks, who passed away Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014, will be private.
