Walter A. Wiles

Walter A. Wiles, 86, of East Brady passed away Sunday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler.

Born on Dec. 10, 1927, in Bradys Bend, he was the son of the late Ross A. and Catherine M. Foringer Wiles.

On Feb. 12, 1951, Walt married the former June Custer. She preceded him in death on April 15, 2011.

A U.S. Army veteran, Walt served with the 720th Military Police in World War II. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal Japan.

Walt first was a truckdriver for George Hile and Carl Schidemantle, then was an operator for Vanmac Coal in Karns City for five years. He worked for Wright Chevrolet in East Brady and S&M Harley Davidson in Clarion as a mechanic. Since 1982, he owned and operated Wiles Auto Repair in East Brady.

Walt was a Methodist.

Walt is survived by his three daughters, Sandra Lapcevich of Phillipston, Barbara (Daniel) Stewart of Rimersburg and Patti (Patrick) McClaine of East Brady, and his two sons, Chick (Patty) Wiles of Chicora and Bob (Kay) Wiles of East Brady.

He is also survived by his brother, Vern Wiles of East Brady; his three sisters, Ilene Wissinger of Kittanning, Virginia Delano of Somerset and Genevieve Zellers of East Brady; his 13 grandchildren; and his 20 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and his wife, June, Walt was preceded in death by five sisters and two great-grandchildren.

Wiles— The friends of Walter A. Wiles, who passed away Sunday Sept. 7, 2014, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at theBuechele Funeral Home, 707 Kellys Way, East Brady.Additional visitation will be from 10 to time of services at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Ron Roudebush of the Karns City Church of God Prophecy officiating.Military honors, committal services and burial will follow in Bradys Bend Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the Wiles family suggests memorial contributions be made to East Brady Ambulance, P.O.
