Looking to repeat perfection

Perfection.

It doesn’t happen very often, but when it does, I have to bask in the glory.

The ol’ Scoopster went 12-0 last week and I now carry a 61-11 mark heading into Week 7.

There are some pretty tricky games on the docket this week, so it will be a challenge to extend my perfect run.

But I’m going to give it a try.

On to the picks:

Pine-Richland 48, Butler 13 — I said last week’s Butler-North Allegheny game would be close and it was until the Tiger pulled away late.

Butler could give the Rams some trouble, but Pine-Richland is a steam-roller this season.

Central Catholic 44, Seneca Valley 20 — The Raiders got some rhythm going on offense in the second half last week, but they are in for another difficult test this week.

Mars 27, Knoch 9 — The Knights’ defense is legit, but so is the Mars offense with Ori Rinaman running wild these days.

This game, too, could be a lot closer than the score I have predicted. I could see this coming down to the fourth quarter, but I feel Mars has too much firepower for Knoch in the Route 228 Rivalry.

Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic 31, Avonworth 16 — The Trojans won two hard-fought games over Avonworth last season and this one should be another hotly contested game.

Cardinal Wuerl rolls on, however.

Apollo-Ridge 37, Freeport 20 — The Yellowjackets are another team that plays everyone tough.

But this is another big test for Freeport, which needs a win.

Central Tech 29, Karns City 26 — Gremlins’ coach Ed Conto wanted to beef up his schedule and will certainly get that with Central Tech, which has knocked off notable foes such as General McLane and Strong Vincent.

The Falcons have coughed up a few points this season and Karns City can certainly score. This could be a shootout.

Moniteau 36, Brookville 8 — The Raiders are depleted and the Warriors are coming off two losses.

Moniteau gets well.

Slippery Rock 31, General McLane 17 — In a rematch of playoff games the last two years, the Rockets bring a staunch defense to the table, one good enough to hold the Lancers at bay.

Grove City 23, Farrell 22 — The Eagles have lost eight in a row and need a win badly.

They get one.

Redbank Valley 46, A-C Valley 7 — In the battle of the valleys, the Redbank one wins.

Clarion 55, Union 23 — No one has seemed to be able to stop Clarion running back Ian Corbett.

Union will certainly try, but the Golden Knights may need to out-gun the Bobcats in what could be a very high-scoring game.

Beaver Falls 43, Summit Academy 16 — Another week, another daunting foe for the Knights.

Scoop is great. All hail Scoop.
