Pittsburgh man allegedly burns girlfriend with red hot knife
A Pittsburgh man is accused of burning his girlfriend with a red hot knife during a domestic dispute early this morning at the woman’s home in Butler.
James B. Byers, 35, allegedly heated the large kitchen knife on the stove and held it on Tiffany Schramm’s back. She suffered a burn mark on her back “consistent with the shape of the knife,” Butler police said.
Police arrested Byers at Schramm’s home in the 300 block of First Street following the attack that started about 1 a.m.
District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned the defendant on charges of felony and misdemeanor assault and terroristic threats. He is in the Butler County Prison on $50,000 bail.
