Dean Franklin Fredley
Dean Franklin Fredley, 86, of Butler and a longtime resident of Penn Township, passed away Wednesday at his home.
He was born on July 16, 1928, in Mars, the son of the late Ellis F. and Evelyn Reedy Fredley.
Dean was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean War.
He was an operating engineer for Union Local 66 and also had worked for Anderson Construction and Lampl Construction.
He was a member of the American Legion 778, the VFW 249 and the Masonic Lodge in Mars. He was a past president of the General Butler Vagabonds Parental Auxiliary where he was also on the board of directors and a bus driver. He was a regular at the Country Kitchen in Penn Township.
Surviving are his three daughters, Patricia D. Rodgers of Butler, Penny J. (Jim) Tackett of Lockport, Ill., and April L. (Brian) Mundy of Danville, Calif.; his two sons, Robert “Bob” E. (Christine) Fredley of Tampa, Fla., and Dean “Butch” (Richelle) Fredley of Butler; his 11 grandchildren, Tracy (John) Tynan, Brandy Rodgers, Eric (Catrina) Rodgers, John (Adam) Tackett, Jacob Tackett, John Fredley, Carolyn Fredley, Clay Fredley, Chloe Fredley, Mason Mundy and Bryce Mundy; and his three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret “Peggy” E. Fredley who died on Nov. 3, 1999; his son, Chris L. Fredley, who died in 1987; his son-in-law, Herman Rodgers; his sister, Lois Kennedy; and his brother, W. Ralph “Jake” Fredley.
Fredley — The friends of Dean Franklin Fredley, who passed away Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at theYoung Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler.Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Military honors will be by the American Legion 778 and the VFW 249.
