Eleanor L. 'Elly' Miller

Eleanor L. “Elly” Miller, 77, of Butler passed away Sunday at Orchard Manor in Grove City after a 12-year battle with cancer.

She was born on Sept. 29, 1936, in Grove City, the daughter of the late John Wesley Thompson and Amelia Marie Hartman Thompson.

Elly was retired from ServiStar.

She was a member of the American Legion Post 243 Auxiliary and volunteered at the American Cancer Society. She enjoyed roller skating, bowling, and spending time with her family and friends.

Surviving are her daughter, Gaile M. (Robert) Hogue of Butler; her two sons, John P. (Andrea) Miller of Ashland City, Tenn., and Gerald R. “Jay” (Tammey) Miller II of Hilliards; her four grandchildren; her four great-grandchildren, and her brother, Glen (Pat) Thompson of Big Fork, Mont.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald R. Miller, who she married on March 14, 1958, and who died on April 6, 1993; a grandchild; two sisters, and one brother.

Miller — The friends of Eleanor L. “Elly” Miller, who passed away Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler.Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeffrey Lang officiating.
