CLUNE — A prosecutor says he'll likely decide this week whether to charge a hunter who fired a shot that pierced the skull of a 6-day-old infant who was being cradled by his father on their couch.
Indiana County District Attorney Pat Dougherty says the hunter had an agricultural deer control permit when he fired the shot about 7 p.m. Thursday. The bullet came through the window of the home near Saltsburg, about 35 miles east of Pittsburgh.
The child is in the intensive care unit at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh where his parents have requested his condition and name not be released.
PITTSBURGH — Authorities say a man was shot to death by another man after allegedly breaking into his ex-wife's home. Police in Allegheny County say a woman called 911 at about 4 a.m. Sunday and said her estranged husband was trying to enter the Pittsburgh home through a window.Police said another man came downstairs with a gun and shot the intruder after he got inside.The medical examiner's office identified the man as Laray Jones, 33, of Jeanette and said he died of multiple gunshot wounds.Homicide detectives are investigating and will consult with county prosecutors to determine whether any charges will be filed.
