City residents will pay more for trash collection in the next three years.

City council Thursday night approved a bid from Vogel Disposal for trash and recycling collection.

Vogel is the current trash collector in the city, charging a $17.91 per house rate for general collection.

That rate will increase to $18.44 per house beginning in 2015. The three-year contract will raise rates to $18.97 in 2016 and $19.52 in 2017.

Those fees include the $3 per month recycling fee, which did not change.
