Mae Claire Allen Brain

Mae Claire Allen Brain of Prospect passed away Tuesday evening at her home.

Born on April 23, 1918, in Prospect, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Louisa Beighley Allen.

She graduated as the valedictorian from Prospect High School, Class of 1936, and she graduated from the Butler Business College.

Mae began her career at the Butler County Courthouse until she became self-employed. Mae and her husband, Charles, delivered eggs to Carnegie and the Pittsburgh area for more than 35 years.

She was a lifetime member of The Presbyterian Church of Prospect. She enjoyed walking to church with her friend, Wilma, and was proud she read the Bible completely through two times.

Mae was a very loving and caring person. She will be remembered for her kindness and willingness to help others through guidance and support. She loved yardwork, flower gardening, cooking, and reading. She enjoyed answering questions on her favorite TV show, “Jeopardy.”

She is survived by three sons, John Brain of Butler, Roger (Kim) Brain of West Sunbury and Richard Brain of Prospect; a daughter, Bernadette (James) Gallo of Butler; four grandsons; two granddaughters; three great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Brain, who passed away on Feb. 3, 1977; a brother, and two sisters.

Brain — Visitation for Mae Claire Allen Brain, who passed away Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Edward L. Raisley Funeral Home, 387 Main St., Prospect.The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in The Presbyterian Church of Prospect, 115 Church St., Prospect.
