John 'Jack' Norman Cooper Sr.

John “Jack” Norman Cooper Sr., 78, of Butler passed away at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday at his daughter’s home.

He was born on Sept. 2, 1935, in Butler, the son of the late Norman V. and S. Margaret Cochran Cooper.

Jack was a member of the St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Butler. He also belonged to the Butler/Gideons International, the Masonic Victory Lodge 694, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of New Castle, the Syria Temple, the Syria Caravan, Lorraine Commandery 87, Butler Royal Arch Chapter 273, Butler Council 61 Royal and Select Masters of PA, the Association of Iron and Steel Engineers, the Western PA Country Music Association, the Salvation Army, the Kiwanis Club and a former member of Early Bird Toastmasters.

Jack retired as an industrial salesman for Plotkins Brothers Supply, Inc.

Surviving are his wife, Karen Lee (Rhoades) Cooper; his two daughters, Tracy Lynn (Dr. Tony) Maalouf and Kellie Lee (Chuck) Rodgers, both of Butler; his two sons, John N. Cooper Jr. of Erie and Tung (Paula) Nguyen of Renfrew; his 10 grandchildren; his three great-grandchildren; his sister, Suellen (Michael) Schultz of Renfrew; his two brothers, Robert L. (Pat) Cooper of Meridian and Richard T. “Dick” (Carolyn) Cooper of Gibsonia; and several nieces and nephews.

Cooper — The friends of John “Jack” Norman Cooper Sr., who passed away Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014, will be received from 10 a.m. until time of service at noon Saturday at the St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Jefferson St., Butler, with the Rev. Alden Towberman officiating.
