Charles Bell

Charles Dean Bell of New Bethlehem passed away Monday at his home surrounded by his family and friends.

He was born on Nov. 12, 1933, to the late Clarence Monroe and Pearl Edna (Reed) Bell in Dora, Jefferson County.

Dean attended the Distant Baptist Church. He graduated from Brookville High School in 1952.

Dean retired in 1985 from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Armstrong County, as an engineer. He was a former deputy game warden from 1960 to 1965 in Jefferson and Clarion counties. Dean started working with his son in 1990 for Bell Plumbing and Heating, managing the office until his illness.

He was a member of the Summerville Sportsman's Club and the Moose Club, and a volunteer for the Red Bank Valley Ambulance Company. He served on the South Bethlehem Borough Council, Red Bank Valley Park Board and the Ohl Cemetery board.

Dean enjoyed hunting from his tree stand and was a founder of “Camp Webuilt” in Porter Township, Clarion County. He loved being active in the community, camping, supporting the Clarion County Fair, playing the lottery, and gambling at the casino with his special friend, Linda Mangiantini. Dean loved living life to the fullest and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.

He is survived by his children, Dee Monroe and his wife, Patti, of New Bethlehem, Judy Reitz and her husband, Rick, of Brookville, Bonnie Miles of Virginia, Susan Huber and her husband, Charles, of New Bethlehem, Deanna VanHorn and her husband, Rick, of Dayton, and Eva Dean and her husband, Corey, of Evansville, Ind.; his 10 grandchildren, Misty Marsh, Samantha Bell, Alexandra Bell, Amy Wilson, Melody Buzzard, Bobby Huber, Tara Kotchey, Makayla Unger, Emmett Dean and Jackson Monroe Dean, and his eight great-grandchildren, Brenton Doverspike, Sabrina Doverspike, Kira Marsh, Gavin Marsh, Mitchell Marsh, Clayton Marsh, Craylynn Mae Kotchey and Pria Dean Kotchey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Mae (Kunselman) Bell in 1999; his two grandsons, Patrick Monroe Bell and Isaac Fraust; his brother, Clarence Harold Bell; his three sisters, Lula Hetrick, Erma Hetrick and Helen Lowman, and his son-in-law, Robert Miles.

Bell— Visitation for Charles Dean Bell who died Monday, Aug. 11, 2014, will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Alcorn Funeral Home, 4065 Brookville St., Hawthorn. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Lyle Westover officiating.
