STATE COLLEGE — Penn State has pulled Gideon Bibles from rooms of two hotels it runs and will, instead, make them available upon request in public access areas.

University spokesman Lisa Powers tells the Centre Daily Times that the school made the move “in the spirit of recognizing other religions and beliefs among our guests.”

Powers says other groups who want to donate religious books can do so, and The Nittany Lion Inn and the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel will make them available along with the Bibles.

AMBRIDGE — A Junior ROTC instructor cited for public drunkenness following a violent argument at a bar has been charged with endangering a student he drove to school later that same morning.Carl Curtis, 48, of Baden, already faced two citations for public drunkenness stemming from the events early Sunday before Ambridge police added a charge of endangering the welfare of a child on Thursday. He now faces a preliminary hearing Oct. 9, according to online court records which do not list a defense attorney.
