Edward D. “Dewey” Lucas, 77, of Butler passed away Tuesday at Concordia Lutheran Ministries, Cabot.

Born on April 8, 1937, in Butler, he was a son of the late Plummer Dale and Ruth G. Black Lucas.

He was employed in the accounting field for 29 years.

He was a member of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, where he served as an usher. Also, he was very involved in his sons' sporting activities. He was a Junior Achievement Advisor, a cubmaster and a sanctioned Little League umpire. He was also involved in the Butler Quarterback Club as a treasurer for numerous years. He was on the board for the Butler Hall of Fame until his illness.

He was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed spending time watching sports and doing crossword puzzles.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Mary Louise Chuba Lucas, who he married on Feb. 10, 1962; his three sons, Edward D. Lucas Jr. and Kenneth D. (Roni) Lucas, all of Butler, and Patrick D. (Tracey) Lucas of Maryland; and his three grandchildren, Cassidy, Christopher and Natalie.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Bernice Neill.

Lucas — The family and friends of Edward D. “Dewey” Lucas, who passed away Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler.
