Francis William 'Bill' Boulanger

Francis William “Bill” Boulanger, 86, of Donegal Township, Chicora, passed away early Monday morning in Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born in Butler March 23, 1928, he was the son of the late Joseph J. Boulanger and Margaret C. Thomas Boulanger.

He worked for 45 years at Castle Rubber in East Butler in maintenance. He retired in May 1993.

Bill was a Roman Catholic and a member of Chicora Senior Center and Castle Rubber Labor Union. He was well-known for repairing lawn mowers. He enjoyed life and was also known for his good nature. He also enjoyed being with his family.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving his country from March 20, 1946, to Jan. 19, 1948. He served on the U.S.N.B. in Buckner Bay, Okinawa, and on the U.S.S. Salisbury Sound.

He married Emma Ruth McDevitt Boulanger July 29, 1950, and she died Dec. 26, 1996.

He is survived by his four sisters, Connie and Marshall Cumberland of Van Buren, Ohio, Donna Schnur of East Butler, Dorreen Desmond of Butler, and Sandra Protzman of Butler; his brother, Rodney and Candy Boulanger of Butler; and a number of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. He is also survived by his special friend, Dolly Fleeger of Chicora, and his special helpers, Sally McCune and Nicole Nebel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Margueritte Dreher and Marcella “Dolly” Wonderly, and his three brothers-in-law, Donald Schnur, Patrick Desmond and Edward Protzman.

Boulanger— Friends of Francis William “Bill” Boulanger, who passed away Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, 111 E. Slippery Rock and Main streets, Chicora.The funeral liturgy will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. John Butler.
