William Joseph Lewandowski

William Lewandowski

William Joseph Lewandowski, 84, of Brady Township, Slippery Rock, passed away at 3 a.m. Tuesday at VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler.

He was born on Feb. 13, 1930, in West Natrona, to Edward and Eva (Polczynski) Lewandowski.

On Nov. 7, 1964, he married Iola Mary Shuler, and she survives at their home.

Bill was a 20-year Air Force veteran.

He worked at Pullman Standard until it closed in 1982.

He had been a member and usher at the St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Slippery Rock. He was a member of the American Legion Post 0393 and the VFW Post 6231, both of Slippery Rock.

His hobbies were hand tool leathering, working in his yard and garden and fishing.

In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his two sons, William J. and his wife, Robin Lewandowski, of Olivia, N.C., and Roy C. Lewandowski of Fenelton, and his three daughters, Cynthia R. and her husband, William Freese, of Glendale, Ariz., Brenda D. and her husband, Matthew Neumann, of Pensacola, Fla., and Stella M. and her husband, Stephen Timko, of Sarver.

He is also survived by his three sisters, Patricia and her husband, John Clark, of Spring Hill, Fla., Helen and her husband, Gerald Baughter, of Cornwall, and Dorothy and her husband, Robert Baker, of Ligonier; his brother, George Lewandowski of Freeport; his 11 grandchildren; and his many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Stella Sobolewski Lewandowski; his daughter, Theresa Lewandowski; his three sisters, Rose Mary Lewandowski, Stella Lewandowski and Frances Meighan; and his two brothers, Edward and Frank Lewandowski.

Lewandowski— Visitation for William Joseph Lewandowski, who passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014, will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.There will be a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 670 S. Main St., Slippery Rock, with the Father Kevin Poecking officiating. Interment will be at St. John's Cemetery, Coylesville.Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 342 Normal Ave., Slippery Rock PA 16057, or to the VNA Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Drive, Butler PA 16001.
