David Clifford Douthett, 69, of Butler passed away Friday at his home.

Born on Sept. 5, 1944, in Butler, he was the son of Eleanor (Minehart) Snodgrass of Butler and the late David Clair Douthett.

He was a 1962 graduate of the Milton Hershey School. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in Vietnam. David retired after 36 years from AK Steel, Butler.

He was a member of the Holy Sepulcher Church. He was a member of USA Track and Field as a master official and coach of the South Butler Flyers for more than 20 years. He was also a volunteer coach of the Knoch Middle and High School track and field, where he was the founder of the Knoch Middle School track team. He was the president of the Knight Foundation. He was also a lifetime member of the Milton Hershey Alumni Association.

David was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He loved campfires, landscaping and spending time with his family.

Surviving are his loving wife, Ruth (Neff) Douthett, who he married on Sept. 18, 1971; his mother; his son, Seth (Erin Taylor) Douthett of Brentwood, Tenn.; his daughter, Beth (Casey Brown) Douthett of Brentwood, Tenn.; his brothers, Samuel (Karen) Douthett of Butler and Carl (Janie) Douthett of Butler; his sister, Margaret Douthett of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Donald G. Snodgrass.

Douthett — The friends of David Clifford Douthett, who passed away Friday, July 25, 2014, will be received from 1 to 3 and 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday at the Fox Funeral Home, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Holy Sepulcher Roman Catholic Church, 1304 E. Cruikshank Road, Butler.
