Wayne M. Startzell, 85, of Mars died Friday morning at Concordia of Cranberry.

Born in Butler on July 29, 1928, he was the son of the late Kristopher and Clara Montgomery Startzell.

Wayne graduated from Butler High School in 1946, attended California (Pa.) University and graduated from Penn State University with a B.S. in civil engineering in 1951.

He had worked as a civil engineer in the steel industry.

He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Wayne enjoyed watching golf and football, reading, traveling and spending time with his family.

Surviving are two daughters, Karen Startzell of Mars and Debora Hoburg and her husband, Jeff, of Allison Park; one son, Greg Startzell in Virginia; his grandchildren, Stephanie Turkovich (William) and Christopher Hoburg (Emily); and his great-grandchildren, MacKenzie Hoburg, and Adelaide and Jeffery Turkovich.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou McMichael Startzell, who he married on May 21, 1955, and who died on Nov. 15, 2004; and one sister, Betty Gearhart.

STARTZELL — Friends of Wayne M. Startzell, who died Friday, July 25, 2014, will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars, from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Private graveside services and burial will be in West Sunbury Cemetery.Memorials may be made to the Mars Public Library, P.O.
