William H. Smith Jr.

William Smith

William H. Smith Jr., 80, of Lowellville, Ohio, passed away Wednesday evening at St. Elizabeth Health Center, Young-stown, Ohio.

Mr. Smith was born on Feb. 15, 1934, in Branchton, Butler County, a son of the late William and Catherine Rider Smith. He moved to Lowellville, Ohio, in 1955.

Mr. Smith worked as a furnace operator for Easco Aluminum for 42 years, retiring in 1995.

A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Smith served during the Korean War from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1954.

Bill was a member of St. Lucy Club, and in his free time, he enjoyed working on his cars, taking care of his yard and watching baseball.

His wife, the former Anna Marie Hamilton, who he married on Dec. 15, 1956, died on Jan. 9, 1987.

He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl (Nick) Mamula of Lowellville, Ohio, with whom Bill lived; his son, Ernest (Diana) Smith of Lowellville, Ohio; his two granddaughters, Jennifer (Lance) Anderson of Struthers, Ohio, and Cora Smith of Lowellville, Ohio; and his great-granddaughter, Cassidy Smith.

In addition to his parents and wife, Bill was preceded in death by his two sisters, Hazel Snow and Alice Mae Baughman, and his brother, David Smith.

The family would like to thank Dr. Tofil and his staff and Lorie Stouffer-Wilson for their kindness and support to Bill and his family.

Smith Jr., who passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014, will be received from 5 p.m. to time of a memorial service at 6 p.m. Monday at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 244 McGill St., Lowellville, Ohio.
