Joseph Scott

Joseph S. Scott, 98, of Mars, formerly of Butler, passed away Thursday morning at Good Samaritan Hospice, Cabot.

Born in Pittsburgh July 29, 1915, he was the son of the late Walter G. and Sarah A. Snyder Scott.

Joe was a mechanical contractor for J&S Plumbing and Heating, North Hills.

He served as a master sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Doris Brooks Wagner Scott, who he married July 8, 1986; his daughter, Sandy Somple of Portersville; his grandchildren, Teresa (Cody) Celestin of Butler, John J. Somple of Chicora, and the late M. Jay Somple; his great-grandchildren, Demi Somple Emigh, Madalyn Somple and Gabriel Somple; and his great-great-grandchildren, Blaise and Makenna Somple. He remained close to the families of his brothers, as well as those of his niece, Betty Fidel, and the Shemaka and Filmeck families and others.

Joe is also survived by his stepchildren, William (Carla) Wagner, Susan (Jim) Bacon and Barbara (Dale) Hepler, all of Saxonburg, and Kimberly (Tom) Foster of Middlesex Township; his five stepgrandchildren; and his two step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Florence Imperata Scott, who died in 1980; his brothers, Frank, Howard and Walter Scott; and by a grandson.

Scott, who passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Greg Wiest, pastor of Glade Run Presbyterian Church, officiating.
