Richard H. Collins

Richard H. Collins, 68, of Frederick, Md., formerly of Butler, passed away suddenly July 17 at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Maryland.

He was the husband of Carol Watkins Collins, his wife of 33 years.

Born on Oct. 11, 1945, in Butler, he was the son of the late Raymond and Marie Hilliard Collins.

He was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi/St. Mary Catholic Church, the Train Collector’s Association and the Cumberland Valley Model Railroad Club. He was an avid model railroader.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy on two world cruises on the USS Intrepid during the Vietnam War.

He retired, after 22 years, from Hughes Network Systems.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his siblings, Raymond Collins and his wife, Joyce, of Butler, Marsha Hook of Wilmington, Del., Mary Pat Byrnes of McLean, Va., Roger Collins and his wife, Venita, of Lake Milton, Ohio, Margie Wilbert of Rock Springs, Wy., and Randy Collins of Gibsonia. His many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Collins.

Collins— A memorial visitation for Richard H. Collins, who died Thursday, July 17, 2014, will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at theStauffer Funeral Home, Brunswick, Md. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Mary Catholic Church, Petersville, Md., with the Rev. Kevin Farmer as celebrant.
