PHILADELPHIA — The city welcomed home the Taney Dragons Little League baseball team.

The team arrived at Love Park at about 12:30 p.m. Sunday and was greeted by cheering crowds.

Mayor Michael Nutter says the city is planning a parade Wednesday to honor the team. The Philadelphia Phillies also plan to honor the Dragons at a Wednesday evening game. .

The Dragons competed in the 2014 Little League World Series in Williamsport, and pitcher Mo’ne Davis became the first female pitcher to win a game in series history. The Dragons were also the 2014 Mid-Atlantic Little League champions.
